Born late in the evening on October 13th 1986, Emily Speelman came bursting into this world full of energy and ideas to spread!
I was born to Barbara and Keith Speelman in the small town of Wooster, Ohio, where I spent my youth playing with our many various animals (cows, goats, horses, chickens, cats, etc...), playing out in the woods, or in the orchard picking fruit for my mum to make into pies/jelly.
Due to my being raised in the country I base much of my art around nature and animals. I find it most comforting to sit alone with a sketch pad next to a creek in the woods and draw my surroundings. I feel art is purely an emotional experience to both the artist and the observer. Not only is it an emotional experience but a purely individual experience as well, no two people will get the same emotion from a single piece of art and that's what makes it so beautiful!
Who I am is a mere speck in a gargantuan idea of forever ness. I chose to study art in college because art is truly one of the only things that brings me great joy! I'll admit i'm not the greatest artist in the world, but I enjoy doing what I do and to me that matters more than being good but not happy.
